    Under the direction of a Supervising Attorney, the Attorney II acts as staff counsel to the Judicial Council Advisory Committee on Providing Access and Fairness (PAF) and provides legal research, analysis, and expertise on issues addressing racial, gender, and implicit bias; equal, physical, economic, and language access to the courts; and services for self represented litigants. The Attorney II is primarily responsible for supporting the work of the advisory committee by drafting reports, recommendations, rules, and forms; managing and implementing the committee’s annual agenda projects, in coordination with the Language Access Subcommittee, ad hoc committee working groups, and assigned staff; researching legal issues associated with the committee’s projects or initiatives; monitoring and analyzing legislation for the advisory committee on issues of access and fairness affecting the courts; assisting the advisory committee in formulating branch-wide policy on access and fairness issues affecting the courts; advising the advisory committee as to its purview and judicial council mandates; presenting the advisory committee’s recommendations to the council’s internal committees and the council; and acting as subject-matter resource for the education division and outside groups and organizations that work with the council or the committee on various access and fairness projects and initiatives. The position must maintain expertise as a statewide expert and resource to the judicial branch on matters including access for self represented litigants, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts for the judicial branch. The incumbent should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision of day-to-day tasks.
